We first opened our doors back in 2014 when Chris and Ollie started Fleet’s first independent vape shop.

The guy’s worked relentlessly alongside the team to build the company to where it is today. We pride ourselves on customer service and providing the highest quality products, to give you the best vaping experience possible.

The news of a national lockdown in March of last year was cause to panic for everyone in the UK. Chris and Ollie worked tirelessly throughout the lockdown to ensure the business could run even with our doors shut. At the end of October last year Ollie decided to withdraw from the company to focus on other business ventures, which we wish him the very best with. Chris and the team continued to pick, pack and deliver goods locally throughout the remaining series of lockdowns. As a community, we’re all still adjusting to a new way of life. During a time of uncertainty and self-isolation, this period has undoubtedly been one of the hardest many independent stores, cafes, restaurants and businesses have ever faced. With many struggling in the wake of the impact of COVID-19, we have been overwhelmed with the support from the loyal customers as well as new comers.

We have tried our hardest throughout this life changing pandemic to keep some sort of normality to both us as a store and you. We can thank you all enough for your support during these hard times and have enjoyed welcoming you back into store over the last few weeks.

We do ask that you continue to be spatially aware and to wear masks during your time in the store. Sadly, testers have not yet been re-introduced in line with Government guidelines, however as soon as it is safe to do so will be bringing them back in new and improved tester tanks.  We are doing our utmost to ensure the store is sanitized for both the safety of the staff and you.

What is a pod system?

Pod Systems have recently become extremely popular with a multitude of various productions being released for the vaping industry.

A Pod system tends to be an all in one device that houses either a built in or external battery with a disposable pod, although some devices still require you to change the coil.

Its a really simple way of vaping and perfect for beginners or those that want a stealthy second device.

Vaping Truths

There has recently been a lot of speculation in the news regarding vaping after several states in America claimed vaping was the cause of death or serious harm. This has raised a lot of questions within the vaping community, so here are some vaping truths.

The vast majority of the patients affected by the illnesses in the US have admitted to not buying their e liquid from a reputable vape stores. Around 83% of the patients have reported to have been using products containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is legal in some states in the US, but it’s illegal in the UK . Recent laboratory tests by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the US have found vitamin E acetate – a substance used in some THC-containing e-liquids – in samples from people affected. This is the first time that scientists have found a chemical of concern in patients with these lung injuries. Vitamin E acetate, along with other vitamin additives, are banned as ingredients in UK-regulated e-cigarettes.

It is without question that not smoking is the safest option, however this isn’t as easy as just waking up and throwing out your tobacco for the majority of us. Switching to vaping, or using vaping to help you quit, is much less harmful than continuing to smoke tobacco cigarettes. The NHS have carried out numerous studies (Long-term vaping ‘far safer than smoking’ says ‘landmark’ study) which provide evidence of e-cigarettes reducing harm to smokers by reducing exposure to toxic chemicals. The evidence would also seem to support Public Health England’s 2015 report that “E-cigarettes are 95% less harmful than tobacco”.

E-cigarette vapour does not contain tar or carbon monoxide, two of the most harmful elements in tobacco smoke.  It does contain some chemicals also found in tobacco smoke, but at much lower levels.

Many current smokers and vapers wrongly believe nicotine causes most of the tobacco smoking-related cancer, when evidence shows nicotine actually carries minimal risk of harm to health. Although nicotine is the reason people become addicted to smoking, it is the thousands of other chemicals contained in cigarette smoke that causes almost all of the harm.

Conclusion

In our opinion vaping should be viewed as a “lesser of two evils” for current cigarette smokers. Nicotine, while highly addictive, is not a significant health hazard for people without heart conditions. It does not cause acute cardiac events or coronary heart disease and is not carcinogenic. Nicotine falls under the same category as caffeine which majority of people would not think twice about.

Vaping, 95% less harmful than smoking. Higher success rates than all other forms of Nicotine Replacement Therapy. Cheaper and not as bad as the newspapers make out. Pop into your local vape shop and see if its the right solution for you.
